We are excited to announce the launch of our new Perinatal Support Service in January 2025.
The service, funded by Croydon Council’s Family Hub Start for Life programme, will be available to parents in the borough from 21 weeks of pregnancy up to 9 months after the birth and who are struggling with:
- Existing mild mental health challenges
- Existing parent-infant relationship needs
Or
- who are at risk of developing mild mental health challenges or parent-infant relationship needs due to previous experience or other risk factors
The support will be provided by trained volunteers with lived experience of the difficulties faced by these parents, and will consist of weekly visits of 2 hours in the parent’s home or local community.
The service aims to improve the mood and confidence of the parents it supports by providing emotional and practical help with things like preparing for parenthood, parenting skills, routines, self-care, connecting with other parents, and accessing green spaces and services.
Parents will be able to self-refer to this service or be referred by a professional.
