Elisabeth was referred to us by the Special Educational Needs team at Croydon Council. She lived alone with her new baby and her four year old son who had been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Elisabeth felt she wasn’t able to spend much time with her four year old as her time was taken up with the baby. She struggled taking both children out and relied on friends to bring her shopping etc.

We introduced our volunteer Pam to Elisabeth. Pam visited the family every week giving Elisabeth one to one time with her four year old and helping the family to go out to places like the baby clinic, GP and shops. Pam also informed Elisabeth about the Health Start Vouchers and supported her to apply for them with her Health Visitor. The Coordinator also referred Elisabeth to Parents In Partnership who provided options of groups and activities for children with ASD.

Once the four year old started school Elisabeth felt better able to cope so Pam stopped visiting soon after.
